About the role

At Old Navy, we are on a never-ending quest to discover the best creative talent. Each year, we bring on newly graduated fashion, illustrative and textile students of top universities from around the world, to live in San Francisco and work with us at our Global Headquarters. The Creative Apprenticeship Program is a post-graduate, full-time, 18-month immersive, hands on learning experience that fosters the development + training of the next generation of apparel designers.

Apprentices will be placed across the following departments: womenswear, menswear, kidswear, toddler newborn, activewear, denim, concept, print & pattern, and apparel graphics.

As an apprentice you will be fully integrated into the broader Apparel Design team + involved in creating + developing our Global collection. We are looking for individuals with a positive, can-do attitude, who thrive in a fast-paced environment.

What you'll do

  • 18-month immersive training program inclusive of:
    • Introduction to the design process + cycle
    • Training + hands on learning of the Old Navy design pillars + filters, customer profile
    • Trend analysis + forecasting through research + inspirational/shopping trips
    • Learn new programs + updated functionalities within InDesign, Illustrator, Optitex, Ned Graphics etc. (for your respective areas)
    • Career development + coaching
    • Exposure to a diverse + global design team
    • Array of creative coursework
    • Team building + off-sites
    • Company wide Town Halls
    • 1-on-1 mentorship

Guided Tour of San Francisco, Comp Shopping trips w/manager, Inspiration Trips with manager and/or other apprentices, In-Store Experience Day, Volunteer Day, Museum Tours and Old Navy Immersion + Orientation.

Who you are

  • Completed a degree in Fashion + Apparel Design, Textiles, Illustration or related field.
  • Must be graduating in 2020 or recently graduated.
  • Eligible to work in the United States (support Visa sponsorship - please reach out to to confirm your eligibility prior to completing the project brief).
  • Required to complete Old Navy brief as part of submission.
