About the role

The Vice President of Digital Merchandising is responsible for delivering the Sales and Financial Margin lines of the Old Navy Online P&L through leading, developing, and overseeing key product, merchandising, and pricing strategies to drive the Old Navy online business. This role oversees a comprehensive seasonal process that aligns product strategies with financial goals, ensuring profitable sales growth. This role also covers day to day management of the business with responsibility for reading and reacting to current trends to deliver results. In this role, you will lead a team consisting of various levels and must create an environment that drives high performance, operational excellence, customer satisfaction, maximum productivity and profitability through developing and empowering your team while fostering a culture of creativity and possibility. You will drive and oversee site merchandising strategies, ensuring best in class customer experience, while ensuring alignment with Old Navy brand’s product, financial and marketing goals.

What you'll do

  • As the Vice President of Digital Merchandising, you are the head of the Digital Merchandising team and part of the Old Navy Online Leadership Team.
  • You lead partnerships with brand product teams, and influence and advocate on behalf of the Digital Merchandising organization to ensure we have the assortment and product strategies to achieve commercial success and meet the needs of our online customer.
  • You will oversee the seasonal buying process for Old Navy Online to insure the right depth of investment by product category and strategy to balance growth vs. liability of inventory.
  • Cultivate an environment of continuous learning with development opportunities and clear career-paths, ensuring a strong and diverse talent pipeline.
  • Oversee operational leadership – ensure balanced workload, lead the team to regulate project timelines and ensure all deliverables are met.
  • Drive the vision and strategy behind site experience, partnering closely with Marketing and Web Ops to identify opportunities to evolve our current business.
  • Support key growth initiatives and capabilities that evolve our business model either within our channel, across channels/markets within Old Navy, or across brands within Gap Inc.
  • You actively pursue details about the marketplace and customers, acting on this information to improve the customer experience.
  • Lead and inspire team to be: product obsessed, customer-focused, innovative, fast-moving and team-oriented.

Who you are

  • Oversee the development, execution and communication of product strategies for the online channel.
  • Oversee buying of inventory and creation and execution of financial plans across all categories.
  • Manage pricing and interplay with commercial plan and promotional offers in season to deliver financial results.
  • Drive best in class customer site experience, supported by a deep knowledge of technical features and functionality.
  • Challenge continual innovation and improvement, recommend strategies to be leveraged across divisions and departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to: drive results; drive company direction and business acumen; influence and motivate diverse audiences.
  • Proven track record in leading a team to execute on an aligned multi-year business strategy driving results for the brand year over year.
  • Innovation Cultivator; exceptional ability to problem solve, develop creative solutions, and demonstrate resourcefulness.
  • Possess strong management and leadership skills.
  • Must have retail background with 10+ years complex business leadership.
  • Ecommerce background within Buying, Merchandising, or Inventory Management.
