About the role
The Sr. Color Concept Designer is responsible for creating sophisticated and beautiful color palettes that are unique to Athleta and enhances the brand’s aesthetic. This role will be instrumental in establishing Athleta’s continuous impression of color from season to season and influencing the direction for our print & pattern designs. This role works cross functionally, not limited to Design, Color Production, Print & Pattern Designers, and Textile Development, to ensure on time delivery and development according to the defined product creation milestones ensuring our products are beautiful, technical and sustainable.
What you'll do
Designs color vision for franchise and seasonal collections and capsules that is unique to Athleta and enhances the brand handwriting and aesthetic.
Creates and maintains 6 month and 12 month color palettes that cross all end uses and categories to create one cohesive expression of the brand.
Collaborates with Color Production, and at time vendors, to execute developments from concept to production ready.
Creates the color vision and collaborates with Designers on the execution within the seasonal collections.
Monitors and communicates challenges throughout the design process to meet materials integrity requirements.
Works and collaborates with the design team to create CADS and visual materials for presentations and line review meetings that support the product to market process.
Proactively communicates to cross functional partners regarding color changes and updates.
Ensures timely completion of seasonal work.
Well informed of current color trends, art, fashion, design and sport related products through market research to keep ahead of consumer needs.
Who you are
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Apparel/Textile design or equivalent experience in the apparel industry.
4+ years professional experience in apparel and material construction, including garment construction.
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop + InDesign, Microsoft applications, and other CAD/Textile Design software
Strong knowledge of fabric & apparel printing methods.
Excellent self-leadership skills, and ability to work in a team environment
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Strong detail orientation, project management and prioritization skills
Able to use rigorous logic and methods to solve problems with effective solutions
Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally as needed
