About the role

The Planner, Inventory Strategy is responsible for the development, execution, and communication of investment and system optimization strategies to ensure achievement of Old Navy Online financial plans and brand strategies. This person works in collaboration with the Manager of Inventory Strategy to develop new tools and process that support the seasonal Buy Plan process, and supports in-season financial strategies and processes, including Brand promotional roll ups, monthly Open to Buy forecast rolls and meetings, and weekly Business recapping.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

What you'll do

  • Support the Seasonal Buy Planning process by building defined tools and processes required to execute our brand goals, as well as support the Digital Merchandising (DM) community through implementation and adoption of new tools.
    • Expert in all planning systems and acts as a subject matter expert for the DM org.
  • Works with Manager of Inventory Strategy to develop Pre-Season quarterly financial targets in order to pass off guidance and direction for buy planning. Partners with Company Planning to determine correct inventory position and receipts to support the financial targets.
  • Facilitate Brand promotional rollups in partnership with DM leadership. Present out each rollup along with risk and opportunity assessment to influence strategies to achieve Brand financial goals.
    • Partner with Company Planning to align on in-season financials goals and facilitate communication of goals to the DM community.
  • Provides monthly direction on the Open to Buy process and facilitates the company roll up of bottoms up forecasting. Identify drivers and risks to the current forecast to provide recommendations on how to maximize profitability and achieve in season financial goals.
  • Support DM community through ad-hoc data analysis requests with a focus on issue identification and tool creation as needed if necessary.

  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset

    • Possess a clear understanding of top line financial drivers
    • Analyze historical data and current trends to identify risk and opportunities for the business
    • Manage the reconciliation of tops-down with bottom-up plans
    • Solution-Oriented and able to function in a business environment that is ambiguous at times, and fast paced
  • Excellent prioritization skills
  • Able to effectively negotiate with and influence peers and cross functional team members.
  • Analyze historical data and current trends to identify risk and opportunities for the business
  • Function individually without a direct team of support
Experience Required:
  • Strong/Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
  • 2 – 3 years’ experience in Inventory Management or Finance
  • Experience in eCommerce preferred
  • Experience with EssBase data management system a plus
