About the role

Reporting to the Director of New Growth and Innovation, the Senior Interaction Designer is responsible for working closely with cross functional teams (across Old Navy) to identify opportunities for and deliver early results on new areas of growth and innovation for the company.

You will research, strategize, design, and run experiments with a cross-functional innovation team; collaborating with Design Research, Experience Design, Consumer Insights, Customer Data Analyses, and Strategy in a fast-paced Lean Experimentation environment. A typical day could have you in research interviews, building out UX flows in Sketch, partnering with stakeholders to better understand their business needs, or supporting users as they navigate prototypes and services.

• Support the development of Old Navy’s new growth and innovation roadmap
o Map and iterate on a range of possibilities, from near-in to more revolutionary
• Lead explorations into new solutions for identified focus areas, including:
o Design research to understand customer unmet needs
o Translate user insights into opportunity areas.
o Design end-to-end digital flows and prototypes with tools such as Adobe CC, Sketch, InVision, Axure, Flinto, Framer, or Principal.
o Run behavioral prototypes of possible customer experiences
o Extract learnings from prototype explorations to drive business decisions on scale / growth
o Manage several complex projects simultaneously, working in rapid iteration.
• Partner with business owners to design and launch new ventures
o Ensure a seamless evolution from concept to prototype to pilot
o Support the organization in understanding how to make steps into new areas
• Be future-focused and curious about technologies; Machine Learning, AI, VR, AR, Conversation Design, and the future of payments.

Who you are

• 6-8 years of professional interaction design / user experience design experience
• Portfolio demonstrating proficiency in visual design, with examples describing the challenge, process, solution, and outcome. Any information regarding research, testing, and thought process will be most informative.
• Demonstrated track record as an outstanding problem-solver
o Able to quickly identify key issues and develop hypotheses
o Able to work in and bring structure to ambiguous environments
o Able to synthesize disperse information into effective strategies and innovative insights, translating complex ideas into simple, actionable recommendations
• Able to effectively juggle multiple projects at one time
• Entrepreneurial expertise and ability to work fast within a large organization
• Excellent teamwork skills
o Able to collaborate effectively using broad range of influence styles to drive desired results; works well with others and is considered a true team player
o Able to identify barriers to successful implementation and capable of working with teams/leaders to mitigate barriers
o Approach conflicts as opportunities; understands others quickly; can find common ground without comprising total position
