About the role

The Director of Email/Retention marketing will be responsible for the email, SMS, referral program and push marketing functions with a focus on analytics, forecasting, segmentation, circulation and personalization strategies and optimization. He/she will come from a retail background and will have extensive knowledge of the ecommerce consumer space and a passion for the email and CRM marketing channels. He/she will work with the cross functional marketing teams (brand communications, commercial planning, design, promotions and loyalty programs) and have accountability for optimizing the email/pushetention channels.

What you'll do

  • Budgeting, Forecasting & Reporting: Manage forecasting process for all file size, segments and email cadence and calendar, including monthly/weekly/daily forecasting reporting at a channel level for traffic, revenue, spend and other performance KPI’s. Partner with company planning to ensure alignment to total brand budget and forecast.
  • Drive Optimization: Seek optimization and growth thru continuous cadence of A/B and multivariate testing, customer segmentation, creative partnership, landing page optimization, trigger-based communications, lifecycle marketing programs and more. Build automated, multi-touch lead nurture programs across the customer lifecycle Collaborate with Product, BI and engineering teams to improve effectiveness of transactional emails. Collaborate with design to develop high-performing creative assets.
  • Drive and Grow Email Strategy: Responsible for segmentation, file health, forecasting, testing and overarching direction of email/SMS/Push programs including optimization of daily batch & blast emails as well as developing the strategy and execution of triggered campaigns including personalization and segmentation strategies.

Who you are

  • 8+ years of digital marketing experience in ecommerce with a proven track record in driving customer acquisition and revenue growth. CRM background a plus.
  • Retail / ecommerce experience required.
  • Understand email standards and regulations such as SPF, CAN-SPAM, and GDPR.
  • Fluency in HTML to author and help debug outbound emails ahead of each send.
  • Robust quantitative skills including forecasting ability and ROI analyses – demonstrated ability to apply logical thought process to problem solving and deliver recommendations.
  • Exceptional understanding of all aspects of email marketing, tech stack, file growth, deliverability and analytics.
  • Strong business acumen with ability to think strategically and innovatively.
  • Strong proficiency in Omniture, Google Analytics and other web metric systems.
  • Excellent communication and persuasion skills. Proactive, collaborative, organized, curious, problem solver with “can-do” attitude.
  • BS/MS/MBA in Marketing, Communications or related field.
