About the role

This role provides HR generalist business partnership and support to one or more of the business functions that are a part of the Old Navy HQ organization. The Sr. HR Generalist is responsible for supporting the development of and implementing people strategies to drive the business and for integrating ideas, providing innovative solutions and developing best practices to ensure optimal support of the business.

What you'll do

  • Provide strategic and day-to-day business partnership support to client groups; Old Navy Online, Global Merchandising and Production, Fabric & Technical Design and others as needed
  • Be a resource to employees and business managers on all aspects of organizational effectiveness, including organizational designoles & responsibilities, recruiting, onboarding, compensation strategies, employee relations, leadership development, coaching, performance management
  • Build organizational capability through coaching for leadership and management excellence; provide employee support through individual coaching meetings, as needed
  • Assess and cultivate talent pipelines and workforce plans through succession and development planning
  • Use employee insights to guide business leaders’ actions to result in high levels of employee engagement and commitment
  • Act as resource and thought partner on people related matters to ensure fair and consistent interpretation and application of company and HR policies and procedures
  • Provide coaching and counseling to employees and managers to resolve performance issues; facilitate communication and resolve conflicts, as needed
  • Conduct investigations in partnership with Employee Relations
  • Identify training needs and partner with Talent Management on execution
  • Use qualitative and quantitative information to assist function and department heads in executing HR and business initiatives, processes and programs efficiently and effectively
  • Partner with HR Operations and Gap Inc. HR partners in the coordination of activities and communications related to the annual Employee Opinion Survey, Performance Management and Rewards processes
  • Partner with cross-functional partners (Compensation, TM, ER and TA) to develop solutions to address organizational needs with a focus on effective and efficient delivery and execution

Who you are

  • Bachelor's degree with HR or business emphasis or equivalent experience
  • 3 – 5 years HR experience in specialist or generalist roles
  • Broad knowledge of HR practices including organizational development, leadership development, change management, compensation, and performance management, coaching and employee relations
  • Demonstrated skills in assessing organization trends and developing HR solutions
  • Strong coaching, counseling, oral and written communication skills
  • Strong diagnostics skills (listening, probing, analyzing)
  • Demonstrated ability to create and implement creative solutions to meet organizational needs
  • Experience with performance management processes and tools
  • Presentation and facilitation skills in formal and informal settings
  • Ability to analyze and interpret quantitative and qualitative HR related data
  • Ability to use MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, PeopleSoft and Outlook.
