About the role

Reporting to the Director, N.A. Parcel Operations – this position supports the design, planning, execution, and optimization of Gap Inc.’s North American DC to Consumer, Ship from Store, and Non-Consumer Direct networks.

This sr. analyst is accountable to monitor industry trends, recommend strategic solutions, and conduct ongoing ad hoc and managed analysis across the N.A. parcel networks to deliver value and continuous operational within the Gap Inc. Parcel network.

Operating amongst a small team of Transportation professionals, this resource is expected to enable a dynamic function - possessing the necessary skills to operate in an increasingly complex and evolving consumer business model – balancing expedient transportation services with optimal cost and innovative customer solutions to maximize margin for Gap Inc.

The person in this role works closely with Store Operations, EComm Brand Operations, and Product Management teams to develop, implement, and maintain Parcel processes and solutions. This resource will develop cost, service, and process improvement initiatives, and identify and implement best practices to across the Parcel networks.

Finally, this position is responsible for supporting the management team across N.A, in providing decision support and enabling long-term strategies.

Knowledge of large e-commerce networks, and experience with UPS, FedEx, and regional couriers is preferred.

What you'll do

  • Develop process improvements through close collaboration with Store and Brand Operations to drive customer promise results

  • Support competitive parcel bids to include spend analysis and summary creation

  • Work closely with Supply Chain Strategy and Brand teams to support Customer Delivery Experience projects and initiatives

  • Conduct ad hoc analysis and provide analytical support to Parcel Operations and Finance teams in the development and maintenance of parcel shipping expense budgets and forecasts

  • Leverage third party parcel audit partner to support cost analysis and reporting efforts

  • Identify parcel expense savings opportunities, implement process changes, and measure and report results

  • Monitor parcel service provider delivery performance and take corrective action measures where appropriate

  • Educate business partners on parcel transportation networks, policies, carrier services, and shipping best practices

  • Monitor industry trends and shipping best practices

  • Deliver special projects, and support other Global Transportation initiatives/ functions as required

  • Ensure timely and effective communication with suppliers, internal business partners, and carriers utilizing the appropriate channels


Who you are

  • Strong transportation knowledge, including familiarity with Parcel Transportation carriers, services, and rates

  • Ability to carry out responsibilities in a work environment punctuated by heavy shipping volume or project load

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Strong organization skills with attention to detail

  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills with a high level of urgency

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Access and PowerPoint

  • BA/BS Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics or related field or equivalent industry experience

  • 3-5 Years Transportation and Logistics Experience with Parcel Shipping Experience strongly preferred

  • Previous retail experience recommended

  • Travel Requirements – low (as the business dictates)

  • Required to support the business as priorities dictate – Retail environment

  • Geographic Location Requirements – Greater Cincinnati area (Erlanger, KY)
