About the role
The Print + Pattern Textile Developer is responsible for ensuring the seamless process for textile development from initial concept to commercialization. This role works cross functionally, not limited to Design and Production, to ensure on time delivery and development according to the defined product creation milestones ensuring our products are sustainable and beautiful, while having the ability to perform for our customer. This role will also manage sampling and prototyping for printed materials in addition to identifying and addressing key manufacturing issues. This role is critical to enable flawless execution of quality standards.
What you'll do
Works through and suggests ideal artwork and graphic execution types, according to the type of art, product attributes and specific fabric requirements.
Helps to prepare mill sheets and supporting art files, such as repeats and colorways, to be sent to the appropriate vendor base (fabric mills & garment factories).
Ensures that the preparation of artwork packages is detailed and print ready.
Owns the artwork development, from file send-out, to production approval, in a range of unique execution types, including printed yardage, technical jacquards, and artwork execution on cut & sew garments.
Owns correspondence via email and/or video conference for all developments, in partnership with design and production, as well as vendor partners.
Strong understanding of artwork development for active apparel, and the technical and functional materials and applications required.
Reviews and comments on fabric strike-offs and other physical product samples, for color accuracy and material execution, for all relevant product and apparel categories.
Takes creative direction and collaborates with the Textile Designers in the creation and execution of print and graphic designs.
Monitors and communicates challenges throughout the testing process to meet materials integrity requirements
Works with design team to create CADS and visual materials for presentations and line review meeting. Builds and maintains a seasonal digital archive of printed developments.
Using established color palette, helps to develop multiple colorways and prepare alternative layouts and scale for selection by merchants and design leaders.
Follows market trends, new technology and consumer preferences.
Who you are
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Apparel/Textile design or equivalent experience in the apparel industry.
4+ years professional experience in apparel and material construction, including garment construction.
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop + InDesign, Microsoft applications, and other CAD/Textile Design software
Strong knowledge of fabric & apparel printing methods.
Excellent self-leadership skills, and ability to work in a team environment
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Strong detail orientation, project management and prioritization skills
Able to use rigorous logic and methods to solve problems with effective solutions
Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally as needed
