About the role
The Manager of Product Insights and Strategy is responsible for gathering, analyzing and delivering product-based insights from wear tests and other testing methods to benefit respective business and consumers. You will play a critical role in driving the strategy and execution of all product insights to advance our operations and drive business results. As our brand continues to grow and evolve, the Manager will drive continual change and improvement in our processes, drawing from best practices and external research. He/She must be product obsessed, customer-focused, innovative, nimble, fast-moving and collaborative. This role will partner with cross-functional leaders and teams to design and execute value-add product insights. You will partner with the cross functional teams within Athleta and Gap Inc. team to drive strategies and to execute holistic projects.
What you'll do
Partner with cross-functional business partners to understand their product research needs, ensuring key research requirements (individual wear test objectives, criteria, timing, etc.) are framed appropriately to be addressed in the research and deliver related added-value product insights
Ensure our processes are best in class and accommodate growing number of tests each season by exploring and implementing alternative testing methodologies to drive further impact and quantitative results
Design, execute and deliver insightful Athleta research sessions and wear tests associated with product quality and performance expectations.
Synthesize test data and findings, both quantitative and qualitative, into actionable insights that drive action for product development.
Collaborate with Gap Inc Consumer Insights (CI) Teams on integrating consumer insights as appropriate.
Analyze existing primary and secondary research to uncover fact-based product insights and apply learnings into clear, effective product recommendations
Provide follow-up to teams on any data that requires a deeper-dive (i.e. Online review “Wordles”, tester interview, follow-up survey, etc.)
Oversee product tester incentive and rewards program, including sample distribution, process, and budget.
Partner with Gap Inc. Quality Wear Testing and CI Teams on brand-wide product testing initiatives, standards, updates, etc.
Build strategic approach voice of the customer data pulls to best inform product development strategies to drive action.
Contribute to the creation and/or refinement of related product strategy & operations processes and templates; prepare presentation materials, reporting and analyses
- Leads, develops, and inspires team to be customer-focused, innovative, solution oriented, fast and team-oriented in their work.
Who you are
Bachelor’s Degree with Master’s Degree preferred; or the equivalent experience in the apparel industry.
5+ years professional experience in Marketing Research, Insights, Strategy/Strategic Management consulting, or Product Analysis/Testing
Experience applying foundational statistical concepts, statistical software experience strongly preferred (e.g. SPSS, SAS, JMP); SQL nice to have
Experience programming & analyzing surveys using online survey platforms (e.g. Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey)
Experience partnering with/ managing research vendors to execute projects (or experience working at an insights research vendor)
Excellent leadership skills, and ability to work in a team environment, ability to interface regularly with senior leadership
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Strong detail orientation, project management and prioritization skills
Strong front-of-the-room presentation and group moderation skills
Able to use rigorous logic and methods to solve problems with effective solutions
Ability to lead initiatives and projects
Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally as needed
