About the role
This leader will work closely with and manage local engineering staff in San Francisco Development Center and team in Hyderabad Development center to support the goals and objectives of the business.This leader must work in a matrixed organization and coordinating the delivery of multiple outcomes concurrently. This leader will be hands on in terms of design, architecture and development and will be able the lead the team from front in any critical situation. As a people leader first, and delivery manager second, this leader must build, inspire and lead the technical teams. As this is a shared service and center of excellence, this leader is expected to work with stakeholders, internal customers across the different GAP tech locations.
What you'll do
Evaluate, build and operate bleeding edge service gateway, catalog and discovery capabilities that positively disrupt/optimize GapTech’s software development and delivery lifecycle.
Help, guide and engage with Engineering teams producing APIs which require OIDC
Drive the effort for adoption of the containerization of the legacy apps /services
Working in partnership with colleagues throughout the firm, and in leading collaborative teams to achieve common goals
Hands on experience on managing operations of large scale internet-centric production environments for application or infrastructure services serving tens to millions of end users.
Presents possible updates, recommendations, strategic opportunities to local & US leadership
Develops relationships with local business leaders
Provides advice on a broad range of cloud technologies and strategies
Demonstrated ability to innovate and operate outside the comfort zone of established methods and procedures
Demonstrated ability to gain immediate credibility at all levels both inside and outside the organization and develop lasting, productive and collaborative relationships
Excellent communication and influencing skills including the ability to simplify key messages, present compelling stories and promote technical and personal credibility with internal and external executives, and both technical and non-technical audiences
Proven success working across organizational and geographic boundaries
Who you are
Implement and support new and existing platform solutions for service development and consumption, including:
Globally available API Gateways
Globally aware Service Discovery
Internal and external Service Catalogs
Shared API flows (security, governance)
Have strong knowledge of OAUTH and OIDC
Develop and deliver products iteratively and resolve development, operationalization and consumption roadblocks in a product DevOps model
Keep current with latest industry trends and technology. Identify and leverage new technologies and methodologies
Handle complex integrations and work comfortably across different levels of the stack
Mentor junior engineers on the team
Be able to lead projects independently with little to no guidance.
MS/BS Degree in CS or related field + 12 year’s experience
8+ years current hands-on development of platform solutions, including
API Gateways (Apigee, Mashery, Zuul, etc.)
Microservices (Java, Node.js preferred)
Software Delivery Pipelines
Non Functional: Microservices, OO concepts, Design Patterns, TDD
Configuration Management using tools like Chef
5 + years working in an Enterprise Linux environment
3 + years leading a team
