About the role

GapTech Information Security (InfoSec) is the global cybersecurity division of Gap Inc. inclusive of, and across, all our brands. The Security Engineer reports to the Director of Data Protection and Infrastructure and will be key to enabling security self-sufficiency across our DevOps organization by helping design, deploy, and operate solutions that strengthen our capabilities in Data Protection, Endpoint Security, Critical Infrastructure, and Vulnerability Management.

What you'll do

  • Engineer, deploy, and operate technical security solutions that mitigate security vulnerabilities.
  • Partner with Red Team and Product Security to perform technical security assessments, vulnerability scanning, and infrastructure and code reviews.
  • Analyze threat intel applicable to internal services and drive remediation plans.
  • Develop and advocate data protection and security best practices throughout Gap, Inc.
  • Enable Product teams by providing subject matter expertise on security services inclusive of data encryption, tokenization, data activity monitoring, hardening, and endpoint security.
  • Constantly thrive to improve and automate security operations procedures.

Who you are

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, preferred.
  • Demonstrated programming ability in one or more of the following languages: Python, Ruby, Java, PHP, JavaScript, Perl, and other languages.
  • Relevant work experience in application-level vulnerability testing and code-level security auditing.
  • Foundation and in-depth technical knowledge of security engineering, network and system security, authentication, security protocols, encryption and applied cryptography.
  • Passion to learn or knowledge of information security risks and counter-measures for Linux, Windows, and OSX.
  • Experience in deploying applications and micro-services into Cloud IAAS, PAAS, or SAAS.
  • Demonstrate the strong communication skills required to discuss and present engineering principles and issues to both technical and non-technical business partners & write concise proposals and documentation.
  • Driven, self-motivated and results-oriented. Some level of experience in security engineering/administration will be helpful including competencies in:
    • Static and Dynamic Code Analysis
    • Threat Modeling and Threat Detection Tools
    • Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM)
    • Anti-malware, FIM, HIDS
    • Identity and Access Management Tools
    • Data Encryption, Tokenization, Minimization and Cryptography
