About the role

The Sr. Director, Digital Experience and Commerce Engineering position is a critical role accountable for the delivery of all new capabilities for our customer facing e-commerce products, technology stack modernization and leading a high-performance team practicing best-in-class DevOps and continuous delivery engineering practices.
In this role, you will be responsible for working with your Product Management, Architecture and Technical Program Management peers to build end-to-end product delivery and technology plans for the Digital Experience and Commerce area. In addition, you will institute the right processes and practices to ensure high availability of all your applications and services at scale, while leading your team’s technical roadmap and move of workloads to the Cloud. In your role, you will also lead oversight for the total cost of ownership for building, testing and running your products in Production – ensuring on time and on budget delivery.
You will be responsible for our e-commerce experience and platform across all our brands, across multiple geographies, showcasing our products to millions of customers worldwide, making it fast, intuitive and fun to shop online! The role reports to the Vice President of Customer Experience Engineering, in GapTech.
• Leader of the Digital Experience and Commerce engineering team across all Gap Inc. Brands
• Member of the Customer Experience engineering leadership team
• Leads the delivery of product and technology capabilities across the Digital Experience and Commerce product line ensuring planned scope, priority, risk, milestone and financial changes are surfaced in a timely manner, ensures strategies and recommendations for addressing each are provided and result in aligned decisions
• This position will lead and manage the technology lifecycle, facilitating application strategy and planning processes, ensuring delivery success in a modern DevOps/Agile operating model
• Communicates directly to senior executives on operating status and technology impact.
• Ensure high availability of all Production systems with industry best-practices for continuous code delivery at scale
• Lead product and technical roadmap planning for the Digital Experience and Commerce engineering function, actively collaborating with key product and program management partners
• Facilitate delivery partnership through the right level of planning, coordination, alignment and leadership visibility occurs to ensure on-time, on budget delivery of initiatives
• Ensure successful delivery execution of large complex product initiatives consisting of multiple cross- functional/ organizational Agile teams
• Maintain overall financial oversight as part of total cost of ownership for building all your product capabilities, Production support and consumption costs
• Provide timely visibility of critical business-impacting technology issues to business and technology leaders
• Participate in continuous delivery improvement efforts with modern agile, lean and design thinking practices
• Provide leadership, mentorship and oversight to a high-performance team of engineering managers and engineers across product delivery, technology decisions, engineering best practices and transformation

Who you are

• 15+ years engineering leadership with E-commerce sites at scale
• Deep end-to-end technical knowledge building and running web applications, services and related technologies in the Cloud
• Ability to credibly challenge technical design decisions and approaches with highly talented product managers, architects and engineers
• Experience managing large, global engineering organizations, leading leaders and empowering them to run independent, high performing teams
• Experience leading teams with state-of-the-art engineering development and delivery (DevOps) best practices
• Experience collaborating with product and program management to build detailed product and technical roadmaps that consistently meet budget / time expectations
• Demonstrated understanding of modern software development and infrastructure tools, processes and practices, including Agile Development, Cloud, DevOps
• Creative and flexible mindset to planning and problem-solving, ability to lean into the details while maintaining the “big picture”
• Strength in building partnerships; working collaboratively in a matrix, proven influencing skills
• Demonstrated track record of aligning technical objectives and programs to business objectives and strategies
• A highly service-orientated approach with a track record of delivery and client satisfaction
• Proven ability to provide executive level communication and risk assessments
• Strong executive presence and experience advising and interfacing with senior executives and business leadership on technology related issues, excellent executive
