About the role

The Market Planner creates and manages sales and inventory plans from investment through allocation at the product/category/item level for the Outlet (ONO) channel within the Old Navy Canada market. The Market Planner is responsible for ensuring that the development and management of assortment, demand and inventory plans achieve divisional financial goals.

Responsibilities span across business analytics, pricing strategy, assortment + investment planning, and store communications. The role stretches from daily business management and reporting of financials, to identifying, driving and recapping key deviations specific to the Canada ONO business.

Financial Planning - Forecasting

What you'll do

  • Develop and build department & class level plans that support division strategy

  • Develop and build pre-season style plans and recommend investment quantities and accurate flow forecasts

  • Manage the reconciliation of class-to-department bottoms-up plans

  • Develop and build department/class level allocation strategies

  • Create and execute sizing and packing strategies that support department and divisional objectives

  • Responsible for open-to-buy activities at department/class level

Plan Management - Allocation

  • Manage inventory plans from investment through allocation execution, including ongoing assessments and updates

  • Ensure receipt accuracy to support in-season allocation strategies

  • Own and approve initial inventory releases

  • Forecast in-season sales and inventory and develop strategies to maximize opportunities and mitigate risk

  • Manage the reconciliation of class-to-department bottoms-up plans

  • Strategize, recommend and execute in-season pricing strategies

  • Accountable for campaign margin roll up specific to ONO, and its impact on total market

  • Own in-season management of ONO exclusive product – promotion cadence, sales forecasting, and markdown strategy

Product/Assortment:

  • Identify exclusive ONO assortment needs - collaborate with key stakeholders to drive divisional strategies unique to ONO stores, gain alignment and ensure budget expectations are met.
  • Drive assortment + investment planning for ONO exclusive product.
  • Influence allocation strategies to fuel ONO business strategies – partner with store planning and Canada allocation analyst for proper execution.

Business Process Management - Supply Chain Operations

  • Develop monthly forecasts of sales and inventory for Basics managed through demand forecasting and vendor management tools, as required

People Management (if applicable)

  • Manage an Inventory Analyst by creating a collaborative, innovative and results-orientated environment

  • Support the career development and skill development of Inventory Analyst to ensure job satisfaction, retention and future talent development

Support HQ and Field Partnership

  • Clear communication with key business partners of upcoming events, strategies and nuances from Canada Specialty stores.
  • Facilitate weekly calls with field leaders – recapping divisional wins, opportunities and identifying action items.
  • Develops, executes and distributes weekly promotional signage and expectations to field.

  • Financial and Business Acumen: Ability to evaluate financial and business indicators and translate data into actionable information to drive results; proficiency in retail math
  • Systems and Tools Acumen: Expertise in Excel – Advanced skill level (ability to create pivot tables, build macros, write complex formulas), and have aptitude to learn technical applications quickly
  • Process Management: Able to create and organize work and processes to get things done in the most efficient manner
  • Possess strong organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrate strong listening, written and oral communication skills

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of retail experience
  • Self-motivated and works well independently
  • Thrives in ambiguous and ever-changing environments

  • Ability to travel internationally
