Gap Inc.

October 28, 2019

For the 4th consecutive year, Gap Inc. employees from all around the world have wrapped up Volunteer Rally -- our annual month-long volunteer push. This year, we tallied more than 68,000 hours of giving back to our communities. Causes ranged from cleaning up parks and beaches to building a playground and creating art kits for children in the hospital. Here are a few highlights:

In Mexico, Old Navy Employees spent time at the Children's Hospital of Mexico. The team decorated a small playroom and spent quality time with the youngest patients.

Employees in Japan amassed 180 volunteer hours in just one day! Their efforts included beach cleanups, tutoring, and making crafts and toys for foster children.

In India, teams rallied together to find a number of ways to give back to their communities! Nearly 200 employees in New Delhi planted 850 trees in local parks and donated 22 units of blood. In Bangalore, employees distributed 150 meal kits to those in need.

In Bangladesh, 22 employees donated blood and helped clean the banks of Gulshan Lake in Dhaka.

In Pakistan, employees participated in a typhoid vaccination camp for 50 children and in Sri Lanka, employees painted and beautified a local school building and distributed books and stationery to students.

In China, employees participated in many volunteer events, from making smile bags for Operation Smile patients, to preparing meal kits for those in need.

In the United States, our teams stepped it up and organized hundreds of volunteer events throughout their communities.

The Ohio Customer Contact Center team helped build a playground with KaBOOM! at The Bonner Academy. Since beginning their partnership in 2015, Gap Inc. employees have participated in over 40 different volunteer events and have directly supported nearly 1,000 children at the Academy.

Gap Inc.’s Legal team held its second annual baking competition to raise funds to purchase school supplies for at-risk children attending Highland Elementary School in Richmond, CA. When the supplies and monetary donation were brought to the school, the Vice Principal cried tears of joy and said, “It feels like Christmas in September!“

We’re proud to be giving back. As our co-founder Don Fisher said, we “do more than sell clothes.”
