TOKYO – February 21, 2011 – Gap Japan K.K. today announced the grand opening of its Gap Flagship Ginza store, scheduled to take place on March 3, 2011. Launching in one of the most renowned shopping areas in Japan, the new Ginza Gap store will provide shoppers with an impressive shopping experience, boasting the largest Gap sales floors in Japan to-date.
Ginza is a memorable district for us because it’s where we first launched the Gap brand and opened our doors in 1995. 16 years have since passed, and the area is now at the forefront of social trends and transforming itself from a grove of luxury brands into a mixture of SPA brands. We are thrilled that Gap Japan, the pioneer of SPA brands, will introduce one of the largest flagship stores in Japan to the district – ready to offer shoppers superior shopping experiences and customer service.
The new Ginza Gap flagship store will have a refined exterior with the striking contrast of blue and clear glass, the former having a presence in modern design that reminds you of the Gap logo and the latter representing the clean, pleasant image of the brand. On the 1st floor will be a permanent “White Space,” where customers can find special and seasonally-themed items.
The new store will feature the full range of Gap adult, GapKids, babyGap and GapBody product. All four floors will have a consistent, modern look and feel, including magnetic presentations based on the brand’s theme – Modern & Sexy – in layouts that are cozy and comfortable.
As part of the grand opening on March 3, 2011, Gap Japan also plans to give away jeans designed in collaboration with Abbey Dawn, rock star Avril Lavigne’s clothing line. The jeans will be given away to the first 200 customers that walk through the doors on opening day.
