About the role
This role leads Commercial Finance and FP&A for Gap Speciality & Outlet business in Europe (UK, Ireland, France & Italy), and reports into the VP of Global Gap Finance. The role is responsible for leading and executing financial strategies, which will deliver improved profitability for the European business. The role requires influencing across all business functions as part of the European Leadership team to ensure business plans optimise sales, margin and profit.
What you'll do
Leads and develops a team of 6, with focus on delivering high level of ethical standards, continuous improvement mindset, commitment and customer service. Engages and motivates through varying business climates.
P&L management for the Europe business, including coordination of sales and margin budget and forecast with the Company Planning team, direct expense control and accountability, planning processes, and longer-term strategic profitability improvement plans.
Ensures efficiency and compliance with GAP internal controls. Closely partners with the Europe Sr Director of Control and Accounting to ensure monthly close and reporting deliverables are met with high standards.
Prepares and presents comprehensive quarterly business reviews to the European and Gap Global Leadership.
Delivers relevant financial updates to the wider business (town halls, annual kick offs and store manager conferences).
Ensures expense control and accountability within the business. Leverages assets and streamlines operations to optimize Gap Inc returns.
Develops strong and credible partnership with the European Leadership Team to understand business needs and drive results.
Partners with retail and operations teams to develop plans for identified opportunities and watch list stores to improve fleet financial returns.
Provides actionable, relevant, and impactful reporting and analysis on business and store performance.
Partners with Global Real Estate Finance, providing local input to support lease and real estate decision-making.
Decision Support & Strategy
Regional Strategy Setting: Defines long range goals with general manager. Aligns customer, product, real estate and technology strategies with functional leaders. Ensures departmental objectives and brand financial goals align. Prioritizes European strategic initiatives.
Regional Real Estate Strategy and Execution: Market planning, fleet restructuring, investment appraisals and capital hind-sighting.
Business Development: Proposes earnings accretive business opportunities. For example, listing on third party websites/marketplace, Omni strategies, ship from store, etc.
Local Decision Support: Provides financial framework for "go"/"no go" decision making to EU general manager. Reports on cross-functional initiatives and ROI. Creates mitigation plans to external risk, for example Brexit.
Company Planning: Influences sales and margin strategies that deliver comp performance and profitability. Responsible for plans to deliver to quarterly committed inventory targets, while maximizing margin opportunities. Provides actionable financial analysis& reporting to hindsight and support promotional planning.
Who you are
Graduate qualified accountant or MBA with 10+ year finance experience, the majority of which should have been gained in the Omni retail industry.
Ability to navigate a matrix organization effectively, experience reporting into an offsite leader.
Experience in leading multiple financial functions, experience in a regional Finance lead role.
Prior experience (direct or indirect) in a Company Planning or Inventory Management.
Proficiency in French and /or Italian language desirable.
