Old Navy

November 19, 2019

Imagine a workplace where everyone is welcome, where creativity shows up in every corner of the business, and every employee has a role to play in delivering the democracy of style to customers. This is Old Navy.

Let’s take a peek inside Old Navy’s HQ in Mission Bay – from the employee-created artwork displayed throughout the building to the open work (and play) spaces designed to cultivate a collaborative community of game-changers, risk-takers, creators and innovators.

Here are just a few reasons our employees love coming to work, and why Old Navy is considered of the best workplaces in retail!

Reason #1: The fun starts on the front steps. The minute you walk into Old Navy’s headquarters in San Francisco’s up-and-coming Mission Bay neighborhood (aka Thrive City), you know you’ve stepped inside a special place. From the music, to the always-packed coffee bar (aptly named, Mission Brew), our HQ brings the fun-factor, just like our stores! And because Old Navy is home to many talented artists, we have employee art hanging throughout the building.

Reason #2: The neighborhood is poppin’. Over the past year, Mission Bay has become one of the most popular districts in SF, and there are tons of new restaurants and bars for locals to explore. One of our favorites is Spark Social, part food truck commune, part beer and sangria garden, and part event space designed to bring the neighborhood together day or night. Spark Social rotates over 150 food trucks from all over the Bay Area each day for both lunch and dinner. And, stay tuned for Chase Center’s new social venture “Thrive City”, a community gathering space that will offer Get Fit clinics, yoga sessions, farmer’s markets, ice skating, and much more.

Reason #3: Our neighbors are a slam dunk (or a grand slam, depending on the season). Our HQ is a hop, skip and a jump away from two of the Bay Area’s most popular sports teams’ home arenas. The brand-new Chase Center is home to the Golden State Warriors, and is situated directly next  to our main office. The San Francisco Giants Oracle Park is also a quick walk down the road, with the iconic signs visible from right outside Old Navy’s front door.

Reason #4: We’ve got all the eats and treats an SF foodie would want! With an ever-changing menu featuring fresh, seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, and a team of innovative cooks, the Old Navy Mission Bay Cafe is actually the best breakfast, lunch, or snack spot in the neighborhood. Our chefs are regularly trying out new recipes and serving up creative and festive food – who could forget our poutine bar and maple lattes to help celebrate our 100th store in Canada? Genius and yummy.

If you need to grab and go, Mission Brew is the perfect place to pick upa favorite snack or coffee. And, have we mentioned our baristas? They’re the best, too.

Reason #5: TLC @ MB
We’re committed to giving our HQ employees the opportunity to give their mind, body and soul some TLC right here at work. From fitness classes, like yoga and barre, to relaxation services, like massage and acupuncture, to art classes, like candle making and watercolor painting, our TLC @ MB wellness program has something for everyone. Whether you’re in the mood to sweat it out with a kickboxing class, or slow down with meditation, TLC @ MB provides employees with a wide range of ways to relax, recharge and flex our creative muscles.

Reason #6: There’s always something new brewing in the Lab (Store). Our Lab Store, located on the ground floor of our HQ, is a testing ground for the latest, most innovative ideas in Old Navy products, merchandising and store experiences — the “secret sauce” that makes shopping Old Navy so much fun! Employees at headquarters, including their visitors, are encouraged to shop here (with the employee discount!), give feedback, and get an inside look at what’s up and coming for our more than 1,100 Old Navy stores worldwide.

Reason #7: Our employees have a whole lotta love to give. We believe in giving back to the communities where we live and serve, and our employees are always looking for new ways to get involved with non-profit organizations throughout the city and beyond. Through our Community Leader program, employees have access to charitable opportunities both outside the office, and opportunities initiated right here at HQ on the clock.

Reason #8: We Celebrate, and Foster Creativity. We know it’s important to always be learning, that’s why we offer the Creative Academy, a training program designed to inspire and cultivate creative talent. Through this program, we give our design, visual and styling teams the option to “choose their own adventure” as they grow their careers.

We also love to celebrate our incredible artists sitting right here in our building. Through our Mission Bay Arts program, employees have the opportunity to share and showcase their personal works of art. Every floor of our building features amazing works of art created by our employees, AKA the best artists around!

Reason #9: You belong. At Old Navy, everyone is family. This is not just a tagline – it’s who we are, and we believe it at our core. In 2018, Old Navy became one of the founding members of Open to All, an organization whose mission is to encourage businesses to keep their doors open to everyone on the same terms. Our Old Navy stores and HQ buildings across North America are dedicated to this pledge, and proudly feature Open to All signage in our windows.

We also offer Employee Resource Groups, which encourage belonging, foster awareness of underrepresented groups, and provide personal and professional development. The goal of these groups is to express, represent and advocate for diversity and inclusion of all employees. Learn more here.

Throughout every office and every store, Old Navy employees work together towards the same goal: deliver high-quality, high-energy, accessible style to everyone. Luckily for us, our creative, diverse and welcoming headquarters allows us to do just that.
